Open defecation: RUWATSAN,UNICEF trains traditional pit emptiers in Zamfara

From Ahmed Attahir  The Zamfara State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency(RUWATSAN), in partnership with UNICEF has trained traditional pit emptiers and evacuators with aimed to end open defecation in the state.  The three day training program held in Gusau,the state capital,was supported by UNICEF for the local government areas to strengthen faecal sludge management services. The training was also aimed at building the capacity of traditional pit emptiers evacuators in the catchment LGAs for an effective faecal sludge management (FSM) services through improved technical skills, occupational safety, business development. The program Collaborates with key stakeholders across the Sanitation Value Chain for a Climate Resilient Safely Managed Sanitation with a goal of improve safe sanitation practices and address challenges linked to pit emptying across the state. Federal Varsity Gusau, RMRDC Collaborates on Agriculture,Solid minerals Research.

  From Ahmed Attahir  The Federal University Gusau (FUGUS) has strengthened collaboration with the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC),  to explore, harness, and develop raw materials from the agricultural and solid mineral sectors in Zamfara State. In a statement issued by the FUGUS Chief Information and Public Relations Officer Jamilu Ibrahim Gusau,reported that FUGUS Vice-Chancellor Professor Tukur Adamu, stated this while receiving a delegation from the Zamfara State Coordinating Office of RMRDC during a courtesy visit to the University in the state.  VC said in line with its core mandate, the University is focused on promoting research that directly addresses local challenges. Zamfara Gov's Aide Kaura drags to Court for defamation of character.

Yusuf Alhassan kanoma has filed a suit at Magistrate court 1,in Gusau on alleged defamation of character against Mustafa Jafaru kaura special Assistant to Zamfara Governor on media and communications. When the case came up on Tuesday for mentioning,it was discovered that neither the defendant nor his counsel were present in court. It was gathered that the court was unable to serve the defendant with court summon as it was alleged that the defendant was evading the summon. The Magistrate court 1,has ordered the court registry to serve the defendant with substituting service and had fixed 27th of April 2026 for mentioning.  The complainant Hon.
