From Ahmed Attahir  The Zamfara State government through Ministry of Humanitarian and Relief Matters has spend over N7.3billion on support and assistance, saying Zamfara state harbours over 290,000 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the state.  This was disclosed on Wednesday by the Commissioner Ministry of Humanitarian and Relief Matters Hon. Salisu Musa Tsafe during the Commemoration of 2026 world Humanitarian Day in the state.  The commissioner who was represented by the Acting Permanent Secretary Hajiya Ummulkhairi Abubakar sympathise with the communities affected by natural and man made crises and disasters in the state.  "The World Humanitarian Day is dedicated worldwide to appreciate the dedication, commitments and sacrifices made by Humanitarian Actors across the globe. From Ahmed Attahir  The Federal High Court in Gusau, has fixed the 31st of August 2026 for the judgement in a case filed by Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi against APC, INEC, and Senator Sahabi Ya’u over Zamfara APC primaries. During its sitting on Friday in Gusau, the court has adopted final written addresses submitted by both plaintiff and Defendants. The Presiding Judge, Justice Hassan Dikko, after adopting all the final written addresses has fixed 31st August 2026, for judgement in the state.  It could be recalled that APC senatorial aspirant Dr sani Abdullahi Shinkafi has went to court challenging the legality of primaries election conducted at Zamfara north. The aggrieved aspirant Dr sani Shinkafi filed case against APC, INEC and senator Sahabi Ya’u who was declared winner during the alleged purported APC primaries election in the North Senatorial District of the state.

Ahmed Attahir  The Federal High Court, Gusau, has again fixed the 5th of August 2026 for the adoption of final written addresses in a case filed against APC, INEC, and Senator Sahabi Ya’u over Zamfara north APC primaries. The adjournment was to allow Dr sani Abdullahi Shinkafi's to reply one of the respondent counter affidavit against the originating summon filed in the court.  When the case came up on Tuesday, for adoption of final written addresses, counsel representing the plaintiff, Barrister Bello Galadi, prayed the court to grant them to reply counter affidavit. According to plaintiff counsel, One of the three respondents filed and served them with counter affidavit against originating summons. "Statutory we are entitled to three days to reply ,so we informed the court and the matter was adjourned to 5th August 2026 for adoption of the final written addresses." He stated. From Ahmed Attahir  In Zamfara State, Farmers at the Bakalori Irrigation Scheme has cried over ravaging birds,saying over 250 hectares of farmland were destroyed by Quelea birds in the area.  According to the Chairman Bakalori Water Users Association, Malam Yakubu Yahaya,the invasion of birds has threatened food security in the state and country atlarge.  "Farmers had exhausted all available techniques to curtail the situation, but the birds have continued to ravage the farmlands.  "We call on governments at all levels to urgently come to our rescue over the ravaging birds that destroying our farmlands,this is a threat to food security, the birds had so far damaged over 250 hectares of farmland. He lamented that, the ugly incident has become an annual disaster, but the current situation requires immediate attention with emergency response from government to save the remaining hectares. The aimed was to educate pregnant and nursing mothers on the nutritional value of locally available foods and promoting healthier dietary practices to improve maternal and child health outcomes. The campaign which was organised by the Chief Executive Officer of the organisation, Mrs Hassana Samuel stated that the initiative focused on affordable and nutritious local food options that could support healthy pregnancies and child development.
