Kebbi: N-HYPPADE doles out 130 power tillers machines to farmers.

From : Ayodele Ajoge, Birnin-Kebbi  The National Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC), has given out no fever than 130 units horsepower power tillers to farmers in Kebbi State as part of efforts to strengthen mechanized farming and enhance food security. The equipment were handed over to beneficiaries in Birnin Kebbi on Friday during a ceremony attended by officials of the commission, state government representatives, and community leaders. Speaking on behalf of the Managing Director of N-HyppadeC, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq-Yelwa, the Special Adviser on Technical Matters to the Commission, Prof. Yasir Abubakar, said the intervention was in line with the agricultural priorities of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. “The distribution reflects our commitment to easing the burden of manual labour and expanding access to mechanisation for farmers in hydroelectric power producing areas." Flagging off the training exercise at the ultra-modern State Secretariat in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday, the governor reminded workers that the present administration belongs to them, hence the need to sustain their support and cooperation. “Nobody is better than you as far as this administration is concerned. Some people say a labour leader or a teacher cannot run the affairs of a state. “With the help of Almighty God and your support, today, a teacher is successfully steering the affairs of this administration,” he said. The Commissioner for Works, Engr. Abdullahi Umar-Faruk, Muslim disclosed this on Thursday in Birnin Kebbi at an inter-ministerial press briefing organised by the state’s Ministry of Information and Culture. Muslim said the ministry, in line with its mandate, had handled the design, costing, procurement, supervision, and execution of major public infrastructure projects to boost the state’s socio-economic development. Kebbi: 150,000 Women to benefit from World Bank Empowerment projects.

Authorities in Kebbi State Ministry for Women Affairs has expressed that no fewer than 150,000 women in the state are expected to benefit from training, empowerment and community investment grants under the World Bank-supported Nigeria for Women Project (NFWP). The state Commissioner for Women Affairs and Child Development, Hajiya Halima Hassan-Kamba, made this known in Birnin Kebbi on Monday during an inter-ministerial briefing organised by the state Ministry of Information and Culture. She said the project followed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the state government and the NFWP, adding that five Local Government Areas (LGAs) had so far been enrolled into the programme. According to her, each of the benefiting LGAs is expected to mobilise 120 Women Affinity Groups (WAGs), while female facilitators engaged under the programme are being paid monthly allowances.
