Breach of Rights : 8 Zamfara lawmakers file suit against Speaker,6 others at FHC.

The agrieved suspended 8 members of the Zamfara State House of Assembly have filed a suit challenging their breach of constitutional rights at the Federal High court sitting in Gusau, state capital.
The 8 agrieved members are challenging the breach of their constitutional rights to liberty, human dignity, fair hearing and taking possession of their property without due process.
The case was filed against seven respondents that included Zamfara state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, the Speaker State House of Assembly, Clerk of the house,the Commissioner of Police and the Department of State security Services (DSS) in the state.
When the case came up today for hearing at the Federal High Court in Gusau,there were complaints from the registry that some respondents, that includes police, Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), among others were not served in the state.
Ibrahim Ali ,Counsel to the suspended Zamfara lawmakers,seek for a date to begin hearing of the matter and enable them to serve the other respondent's in the state.
Justice Aminu Bappah, the presiding Judge granted the motion and adjourned the case to April 29 for hearing to enable and serve the respondents,who are yet to be served.
In the case filed,the Counsel to the agrieved eight lawmakers, Ibrahim Ali, said his clients alleged that the Speaker, in connection with the Nigerian Police, Department of State Service and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), have embarked on an attempt to arrest and prosecute them, on the grounds that 17 members of the State Assembly broke into the Zamfara State House of Assembly and sat on February 22, for a plenary session in the state.
