Zugu Attacks:Zamfara Community cries,begs Governments to deploy security operatives

The inhabitants of Zugu community in Bukkuyum Local Government area of Zamfara State,have cried and appealed to the tiers of Governments to deploy security agencies to their area,saying non presence of security has constituted more threat to their lives and properties.

 A community leader and Special Adviser to the Zamfara state Governor on Directorate of chieftaincy affairs Yusuf Abubakar Zugu lamented that armed bandits have abducted no fewer than 44 muslims on Friday while observing their obligatory Friday prayer in the area.

Yusuf Abubakar further cried out that barely three months ago, Zugu community headquarters of Kyaram ward in Bukkuyum Local Government area of Zamfara State and surrounding villages of the entire Kyaram and Adabka wards had been under persistent attacks by armed bandits,"people in area need help please ", he appealed. 

"The armed bandits operates almost day and night as they kills,abduct innocent people and robbed the communities of their properties". 

Last Friday,victims were reported to have been abducted when the suspected bandits in their large number armed with dangerous weapons stormed the Jumu'at mosque and asked the victims to move along with them to an undisclosed destination.

Prior to the occurrence of the terrible incident, inhabitants of the community and almost all part of Bukkuyum Local Government area are living in an utterly wretched condition and abject fear as the bandits continued to lunch persistent attacks on them leading to collosal loss of lives, wealth and community infrastructure.




Alhaji Yusuf Abubakar Zugu who is also the special adviser to the Governor on chieftaincy affairs,lamented non presence of any conventional security personnel (military or paramilitary)  in the area.

He disclosed that only members of the recently constituted State Government's Community Protection Guards ,which he said there is need to deploy troops such as military, police and special anti terrorists squad to mitigate the menace.

He further disclosed that there is need to deploy and stationed  military personnel permanently at Zugu town been  headquarters of the ward to serve the town and neighbouring communities.

Yusuf stressed that there was need to block all bandits routes, added that between Zugu town and Gadar Zaima there exists a route where bandits cross to their popular enclave Gando forest where they took their victims, hence the need to deploy troops and attach them with members of Community Protection Guards and ensure vehicular and foot patrol to avert  tendencies of attacks on the communities.

He maintained that there was Need for Federal and State Governments to provide relief materials to the affected communities and security operatives to take the fight to the bandit's enclaves and hideouts.

He explained further that there was needto support community protection volunteers with some incentives and lawful weapons to assist conventional security in the area.

He disclosed that In three months alot of tragic incidents has occurred that led to abduction of many people, lost of lives, properties including residential buildings were all lost to banditry in the area.

"It is against this backdrop that we the inhabitants of the community wishes to report to the Federal Government and security agents

"We appreciate the State Governor Dr. Bello Muhammad Matawalle for employing various strategies to combat the menace and called for its sustenance in the state.
