The Court of Appeal Sokoto Division has uphold the judgement of the Federal High Court Gusau and has re reaffirmed Hon. Abdulmalik Zubairu Zannan Bungudu as the candidate who won the All Progressives Congress (APC )primary election for Bungudu/Maru Federal Constituency in the state. 


Delivering the judgement the three man panel of judges,lead by Justice M.L Shu'aibu said the Court has upheld the judgement, dismissing the appeal instituted by Abdul Rahman Muhammad Tumbido for lack of merit.

It could be recalled that the appellant Hon. Abdul Rahman Muhammad Tumbido has approached the court of appeal  challenging the judgement of the federal High court sitting in Gusau presided by Justice Aminu Bappa Aliyu.

Part of the prayers by the appellant included the need for the court to declare the primary election which produced Abdulmalik Zubairu Bungudu as invalid.

He further cited violation of the APC constitution and guidelines as an issued by the party during the primary which forced him to approach the court.

He also sought the Court to prohibit the defendant from parading himself as APC candidate for Bungudu/ Maru Federal Const

ituency and the need to direct APC to organize and conduct another primary election for it's candidate.


In his remarks shortly after the judgement,  Counsel to the defendant Barrister P M Lasco Esq said,that the judgement has put to rest any doubt on the candidature of Hon. Abdulmalik Zubairu Bungudu in the election.

"Hon. Abdulmalik Zubairu Zannan Bungudu is the authentic candidate of APC for Bungudu/Maru Federal Constituency in the 2023 election" said Barrister P M Lasco.

Also speaking,the defendant Hon. Abdulmalik Zubairu Bungudu thanked  Allah SWT for making him victorious for the second time in court.

He appealed to the appellant to set aside the grievances and joined him in the struggle in view of the fact that they were old time friends and card carry members of  APC.

He further appreciated the efforts of the State Governor Dr. Bello Muhammad Matawallen Maradun, former Governor Dr. Abdul'aziz Abubakar Yari, Senator Kabir Garba Marafa and teeming APC faithfuls in the Constituency and state at large for their prayers since from day one.

Don't politicize Community Protection Guards - Marafa warns Zamfara Gov.

Ahmed Attahir Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa has warned Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara state not to politicize the newly established community protection Guards (CPG'S) in the state. Marafa gave the warning in an interview with newsmen at his home town Yandoton Daji on Tuesday evening shortly after the funeral prayer of one Magaji Lawali a closed alley to the senator who was allegedly torture to died by CPG's in the state.
