26th ABU Alumni AGA : Ex NUJ chairman declares to contest for National PRO.

Ahead of 26th Annual General Assembly (AGA) of the  Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Alumni, former Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Zamfara state council, Idris Iliyasu has declared his intention to contest the position of National Public Relations officer.

Speaking with newsmen on Sunday in Gusau,state capital, Idris Iliyasu declared that the office of Public Relations Officer being the lives wire of any organisation needs somebody with experienced in working relationship with media agencies and good knowledge on information management for the office to excel.

"I'm a Media Consultant and Managing Director, Ed-rees Media Adverts Consult  vying for the post of National Public Relations Officer (NPRO) in the forthcoming 16th AGA/Homecoming events of the Ahmadu Bello University Alumni Association".

 "I assured you that if elected,i will promote and uplift the standard of the association at all levels".He promised.



The former Chairman,NUJ Zamfara state Council and immediate past Managing Director, Zamfara state Newspaper Company further stated that his interest to contest for the post of National PRO of the ABU Alumni Association was as a result of his passion for the job and the pressure he had received from members of the association in the branch and nation in general.

"I have no intention to vie for any post of our association at the national level, however, because of the pressure i received to contest for the position of the National PRO of this our great association, I have no option than to declared interest to contest in order to contribute my quota for the unity and development of the association" he stressed.

Idris further revealed that it is part of his manifest if elected to reposition and restructure the office of the National Public Relations Officer by increasing brand awareness, strong community engagement.

"I promise to excel in building the association by increasing good working relationship with media organisations, stakeholders and above all continuesly adapts to evolving communication trends and technologies to ensure that ABU Alumni Association members reputations and influences continue to thrive".

" If I can do it as public service as information manager, coordinates the activities of the journalists and media agencies then it would be easier for me to manage this office" he reiterated.

He appeal to all participating  delegates  at the two days event to give him a trial by casting their votes for him with a view to build a formidable NEC team for the development of the association.



He commended the Local Organising Committee (LOC) members of this year's AGA event, under the leadership of Dr Haruna M. jumare, his able Secretary, Engr. Noel Baki and all members of the association who are contributing directly or indirectly for their tireless efforts towards the successful hosting of the event.

 The former NUJ chairman Idris Iliyasu Gusau an Associate members of Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria and Nigerian Institute of Public Relations,has call on delegates to vote wisely by voting right candidates that have experience, commitment, dedication and interest in moving the association forward.

Nigerian Tribune gathered that the 16th AGA/ Homecoming events of the ABU Alumni was slated to Commence on Friday 28th - Sunday 30th of this month at main campus Samaru Zaria with over  370 delegates across the 37 States including FCT Abuja.
