Project implementation c'tees : Zamfara ACReSAL inaugurate 98 member in LGA's

The Agro Climatic  Resilience in Semi Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) Project in Zamfara state has formally inaugurated 98 member Local Government project implementation committees in the state.

Speaking during the occasion at the formal inaugural on Tuesday Evening held at Karma Hotel in Gusau,the Zamfara State Acting project coordinator (SPC) Nasiru Bello said ACReSAL projects were aim to support the livelihood of communities in the state.

He disclosed that the Inauguration of Local Government Project Implementation Committees is one of key activities for the success of the Project in the state.

Nasiru Bello revealed that each of the 14 local government areas has 7 persons as member project implementation committee in their area.

"The project was aimed to address some of the critical Environmental challenges in the (19) Northern states of Nigeria and federal Capital Territory (FCT )Abuja".

In his address,the Zamfara state commissioner ministry of environment and natural resources Mahmud Mohammed Abdullahi said ACRESAL Project is a six (6) years World Bank Funded Project which cuts across the three Ministry's namely, Environment, Agriculture and Water Resources respectively in the state.

According to him,Zamfara state Government under the leadership of His Governor  Dauda Lawal has provided all the necessary support for the success of the project implementation, by providing Counterpart fund,operational vehicles, office accommodation and deployment of Project staff to the State project implementation unit (SPMU).

He explained that the ACReSAL intervention areas in Zamfara state for 2023/2024 included Six Number of Earth Dams at Koramar Wanke (Gusau LGA), Fantaru (Bungudu LGA), Kaura Namoda Town (Kaura Namoda LGA), Nato Lake(Bakura LGA), Modomowa village (Birnin Magaji LGA) and Ganbanda village (Gummi LGA)in the state

"Five Number of Flood and Erosion Control Sites at Bulka Area (Gusau LGA),Bela Gidan Dan Gwari (Bungudu LGA), Maradun Town (Maradun LGA),Bukkuyum Town (Bukkuyum LGA) and Bardoki village (Gummi LGA) were also included".

"Six Number Solar Powered Boreholes in Cholera hotspot areas in Five LGAs across the 3 Senatorial zone and to Restorate 9 hundred and thirty-four hectares of degraded land areas in the State".
