Irrigation: kebbi,FG Collaborates to provide free petrol to farmers

Kebbi state government in collaboration with federal government have planned to provide free petroleum product to irrigation Farmers to boost agriculture in the state.
This was disclosed by Governor Nasir Idris on Saturday during the flagged-off All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign for bye-election of Yauri/Shanga/Naski federal constituency held at Shanga in Shanga Local Government Area of the state.
"The Kebbi State Government in collaboration with the Federal Government have concluded arrangement to supply petrol to farmers for dry season farming free-of-charge."Governor disclosed.
He said they sat down with former governor and now Minister of Economic Planning, Sen. Abubakar Atiku-Bagudu and reached an agreement on how to effectively accomplish the mission, saying that the gesture was to boost farming activities across the state.
The governor said that his administration would distribute 12,000 solar powered water pumps to farmers and had already distributed 6,000 for them to increase yields.
"The State Government will purchase another 20,000 units of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) powered water pumps as a back-up to the solar pumps to increase the number of benefiting farmers in the state," he said.
While encouraging the farmers to redouble efforts in their farming activities, the governor observed that such efforts would enable them maintain their lead in food production for national food security.
Idris encouraged the people of Yauri/Shanga/Ngaski federal constituency to come out en mass and vote for APC candidate in the forthcoming bye election for the area to record more dividends of democracy.
In his speech, the APC Chairman in the state, Alhaji Abubakar Kana-Zuru presented the APC candidate, Alhaji Garba Umar-Uba to the governor who issued the party's flag to him, symbolising the formal flagg-off and presented the candidate to the general public.
Dignitaries at the flagg-off included; the immediate past Governor of the state and Minister of Economic Planning, Sen. Abubakar Atiku-Bagudu, ex-Gov. Sa'idu Nasamu Dakingari, two ex-Deputy Governors, Rtd. Col. Sama'ila Yombe Dabai and Bello Danatani among other top government officials and party loyalists.
