Don't politicize Community Protection Guards - Marafa warns Zamfara Gov.

Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa has warned Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara state not to politicize the newly established community protection Guards (CPG'S) in the state.

Marafa gave the warning in an interview with newsmen at his home town Yandoton Daji on Tuesday evening shortly after the funeral prayer of one Magaji Lawali a closed alley to the senator who was allegedly torture to died by CPG's in the state.

He called on Governor Dauda Lawal to as a matter of urgency check mate the activities of those recruited as community protection Guards and their heads before their activities goes out of hand in the state.

According to senator Marafa, late Magaji Lawali's body was discovered blood coming out of his nose and ear,which he suspected that the victim died as a result of tortured he received from CPG's members in the state.

He advised that those recruited as CPG members should be people of proven characters and non partisan politic.

" It's a good efforts establishing community protection Guards for the protection of lives and properties,but it should not be politicize." He warned

He further warned that Governor Dauda should check the integrity of those appointed to head the CPG ,those with Party affiliation should not be recruited or appointed to lead the guards.

Meanwhile,in a statement issued by the secretary to the state government Malam Abubakar M. Nakwada said Governor Dauda Lawal, has issued a directive for security agencies to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the recent confrontation between members of the Community Protection Guards (CPG) and some elements of the banned Yansakai group in Tsafe Local Government Area,

The statement reads in parts: the incident tragically resulted in the death of one individual.

"Mal. Abubakar M Nakwada, noted that the Government is fully cognisant of the skirmish between the two factions and affirmed that the situation is now completely under control.

"The Government is committed to ensuring that anyone found culpable in this incident will be sanctioned to the full extent of the law.

The statement also highlighted that the CPG operatives are reminded of their legal obligations to operate strictly within the confines of the law, as the CPG is a legally established outfit.

Furthermore, it emphasized that the members of the  CPG have a stringent responsibility to adhere to the established rules of engagement in all operations.
