Kebbi bye election/Rerun: Accept results outcome in Good faith -- REC tells parties

The Kebbi state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Alhaji Abubakar Sarkin-Pawa-Dambo, has advised political parties who participated in the Saturday's bye and rerun elections to accept the outcome of the election in good faith.

He gave the advised in an interview with Journalists in Yauri town, Local Government Area of kebbi on Saturday, while inspecting election exercise at Yauri/Shanga/Ngaski federal constituency in the state.

Sarkin-Pawa-Dambo observed that the contest was between brothers in view of the fact that, "they are all from the same constituency and all their ambition is to move the area to next level of development.

"I want to appeal to contestants to  remain in peace and respect each other for the progress of their area.

"I urge the politicians to bear in mind that only God Almighty gives and takes power to whom He pleases,the contest is not do-or-die affair" he appealed.

He said they were in Shanga Local Government for a similar inspection tour and the exercise was going on smoothly, as there was no report of any hitches, adding that the exercise was also smooth in Yauri area.

"We thank God Almighty, everything is going on smoothly, our men were at different polling units very early, election started as scheduled and we have not received any complain on shortage of election materials from any polling unit because election officials were deployed in good time," he said.

He observed that the election was conducted free and fair, there was no need for anyone to reject the outcome, "if really they need their area to progress."

On performance of INEC officials, REC commended their zeal and determination to ensure a hitch-free exercise and appealed to them to sustain the tempo towards making it more credible.

Sarkin-Pawa-Danbo also appealed to electorate to remain calm, saying, "we are all Nigerians and we have no other country other than own, we have to do everything possible to protect our motherland." _ He added
