Alleged Deliberating Insecurity: Zamfara govt drags 8 lawmakers to Court

For alleged deliberating on worsening insecurity,Zamfara state government has dragged 8 members of state house of Assembly to chief Magistrate court in Gusau, the state capital.

The 8 dragged Zamfara state house of Assembly members have appeared today Thursday before the chief Magistrate court following invitation summon sent to them by the Court.

The state Anthony general has filed the case against the 8 lawmakers on direct criminal complaint brought  pursuant to section 122(A) and 123(1)(C) of Zamfara state administration of criminal justice law 2023.

 Reads in parts: That on or about the 22nd day of February, 2024 at about 14:00hrs at the Zamfara state House of Assembly premises/complex you Hon Nasiru Abdullahi, M' Hon. Bashir Aliyu Gummi 'M', Hon. Basiru Bello Bungudu M', Hon. Amiru Ahmad Keta M', Hon. Ibrahim T. Tukur 'M', Hon. Faruk Musa Dosara "M', Hon. Bashiru, Abubakar 'M' and Hon. Shamsudeen Hassan 'M' unlawfully assembled yourselves and convened an illegal session which was widely reported thereafter in media houses, audio and video clips, went viral on social media and made false allegation against the Zamfara State Executive Arm of Government and purportedly closed down the legitimate business of the State House of Assembly.

During the court sitting, counsel to the defendants Ibrahim Ali argued that and raise an objection on the competent of the complainant to file the case,urged the court not to entertain the case.

In his response,the Representative of the Anthony general said the suppose to notify the court earlier before the sitting in writing not verbally.

In her remarks,the Magistrate court judge, justice Rukubatu Aliyu adjourned the sitting to 30th of May 2024 allow both parties settled for hearing.

Meanwhile ,it was gathered that misunderstanding allegedly started with some members of the Zamfara state house of Assembly when they sat at house chamber and deliberated over the worsening security situation across the state.

The concern members in recent interview disclosed that the situation of insecurity bedeviling every angle of the state have forced them to sat and deliberate way forward to curtail the menance,which they alleged that the sitting did not go well with some members who were absent during the deliberations.

Our reporter gathered that as a result of  the sitting which deliberated on insecurity which not all lawmakers attended, absentees of the meeting allegedly connived to register their non support to their colleagues.

Don't politicize Community Protection Guards - Marafa warns Zamfara Gov.

Ahmed Attahir Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa has warned Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara state not to politicize the newly established community protection Guards (CPG'S) in the state. Marafa gave the warning in an interview with newsmen at his home town Yandoton Daji on Tuesday evening shortly after the funeral prayer of one Magaji Lawali a closed alley to the senator who was allegedly torture to died by CPG's in the state.
