Zamfara: Bungudu Community petitioned Council Sole administrator over Grazing area.

Aggrieved Communities of Bungudu local government areas in Zamfara state have wrote petition to the state Governor against the Council sole administrator of Bungudu local government for alleged usurpation of grazing areas.

In a petition letter written by lawyers to the aggrieved communities PEARLS & FALLS LAW FIRM (JAMA'ARE CHAMBERS) signed by Julius Anthony ESQ.against Bungudu local government council sole administrator dated 21st of June 2024 was address to the executive Governor of Zamfara state Dauda Lawal issued on Saturday in Gusau.

It's read in part: "We act as solicitors to the mentioned citizens; Lawali Mainasara and Bello Umar (Damba): Buhari Sani and Murtala Tukur (Kwahwa): 67yrs old Umaru Ali Danhayi, 75yrs old Mallam Jahiru Aliyu and Mustapha Rabiu Danhayi (Kekun Waje); Anas Bala, Jamilu Umar (Bungudu Town); Jamilu Hashimu and Nasiru Umar (Kotorkoshi Community Enlightenment Forum) all of Bungudu Local Government Area, Zamfara State; for themselves and on behalf of other affected members of their community (herein referred to as "our clients") on whose instructions we write in respect of the stated subject matter".

"It is our instructions that the present Sole Administrator of Bungudu Local Government Area have with unbridled impunity been engaged in acts capable of undermining the peace and security of some communities under the local government by riding roughshod on their rights as citizens of Zamfara State".

The affected communities were Damba, Kwahwa, Kekun waje (Danhayi), Kotorkoshi, Gidan Jirgi and Bungudu Town respectively.

"Wherefore, the designated grazing areas (Hurumi and Burtali), private farmlands and public buildings under Bungudu L.G.A were literarily confiscated and allegedly allocated to self and cronies without just cause and the attendant consequences of exhibiting such reprehensible laxity to the security situation bedeviling the State".

"In Damba grazing area,the Hurumi and Burtali that have for long been used by the herders and indeed cattle owners and their descendants in that community for the rearing of their cattle which were usurped by the Sole Administrator in defiance to the fact of same is tantamount to heating the polity, despite protestation and a plea for replacement to no avail",same in kwahwa and kekun wake (Danhayi)".

"In Kwatarkwashi,the Sole Administrator allegedly sold Four (4) units of Houses in Kotorkoshi town belonging to Bungudu Government Local while in Bungudu Town, It was gotten from the grapevine that the Sole Administrator had finalized plans to sell the House built about 20yrs ago for the usage Staff of Medical Hospital of Bungudu General Hospital".

"It may interest you to know that some of these issues as highlighted, have hitherto been the bane of farmers/herders clashes that had garnered notoriety throughout the state and economic well-being of the negatively impacted populace".

"Your Excellency Sir, it is on this ground that our clients deemed it expedient to bring the Petition against the Sole Administrator of Bungudu Local Government Area; Nura Umar Abdullahi for the deliberate usurpation of grazing areas, private farmlands and public buildings with impunity and the allocation of same to self and cronies and some instances outright-sale".

Don't politicize Community Protection Guards - Marafa warns Zamfara Gov.

Ahmed Attahir Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa has warned Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara state not to politicize the newly established community protection Guards (CPG'S) in the state.
