Climate Change; ACReSAL sensitizes Community interest groups in Zamfara.

The Zamfara Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscape (ACRESAL) project,in collaboration with Health Standard Concern Organization (HESCO) have organized a sensitization training for 200 participants from community Interest group (CIG's), local government officials on Environmental conservation, peace building and climate change in the state.
The sensitization program for community interest groups (CIGs) and local government officials was conducted in Bungudu, Gusau, and Kaura Namoda local government areas in the state.
According to Executive Director focal NGO (HESCO) Abdullahi Lawal Bungudu, the aimed of the sensitization program was to Foster a culture of peace, non-violence, and environmental conservation among community members and local government officials in the state
"This initiative was part of HESCO's efforts to promote sustainable development and improve the well-being of communities in the project areas". He mentioned.
Also,the Zamfara state ACRESAL Coordinator Nasiruddeen Bello disclosed that the sensitization would Educate community members and local government officials about the effects of climate change and the importance of adapting to its impacts,Promote practices and behaviors that help communities withstand the effects of climate change in the state.
He warned community members and local government officials about the dangers of bush burning and its harmful effects on the environment.
"It's also to empower communities to take ownership and responsibility for promoting peace, conserving the environment, and adapting to climate change."he said.
