Peace building: NGO organizes EWER meeting with communities, security actors for Zamfara, Katsina

A Non Governmental Organization Voluntary Aid Initiative (VAI) has organized stakeholders meeting on Early Warning Early Response (EWER) on peace building aim to strengthen collaboration between communities, local authorities and security actors in Zamfara and Katsina states.
The stakeholders meeting was organized by Voluntary Aid Initiative (VAI) with collaboration and support by NEEM/ Karuna Foundation on Empowering Community Security Project with participants from Zamfara and Katsina state ,held at Command guest Inn,Gusau,the state capital.
In his remarks,the Executive Director Voluntary Aid Initiative (VAI) Ambassador Musa Umar Aboki said the objectives of the EWER meeting is to strengthen collaboration between communities, local authorities and security actors in Zamfara and Katsina states.
Ambassador Aboki further stated that the meeting was also aim to build trust and coordination capacity among EWER stakeholders within Zamfara and Katsina states,and to review findings and actio points from the virtual meeting, develop a regional action plan and sustainability framework for EWER network.
He reassured that VAI would continue to compliment government efforts towards Peace building and sustainable development.
Speaking during the occasion, Emir of Kaura Namoda in Zamfara state Sarkin kiyawa Alhaji Dr Sanusi Ahmad Asha has disclosed that traditional rulers are up and doing to ensure peace stability, advised community to be more vigilant, saying criminals are within.
The Emir lauded the contribution and efforts of VAI towards peace building through workshops, interactive meetings with community leaders, religious leaders, groups and stakeholders.
He urged communities to be more vigilant, and united, added that criminals are within the society ,"we the traditional rulers in Zamfara are up and doing ,to ensure peace and stability in our community". He mentioned.
He assured that traditional rulers remain committed to support any organization that would promote peace and stability in the state.
The Zamfara state deputy Governor represented by the commissioner for internal security and home affairs captain Bala Mariga retired said the initiative of the meeting is timely and commendable considering the choice of the stakeholders from the two states of Zamfara and Katsina that are currently affected by banditry.
The Katsina state commissioner for budget and economic planing represented by Dr Tijjani Umar Director social protection ministry of budget Katsina gave the assurance of the present administration in Katsina of given support to any program aim to booster peace and stability.
