Zamfara Mass Wedding: Zakkat, Gov's wife sponsors 200 couples for marriage.

The Zamfara state Zakkat and Endowment Board has officiated the weeding of 200 orphans ,widow , divorcees and less privileged people in the state.

The ceremony which took place on Monday was under the supervision of the Zamfara first lady and wife of the state Governor Hajiya Huriyya Dauda lawal,held at Zakkat board in Gusau,the state capital.

In her address,the Zamfara first lady Hajia Huriyya Dauda disclosed that the occasion highlights collective commitment to supporting the most vulnerable in the communities which included widows, orphans, needy families, and all those who require assistance to live with dignity.

"Under the Administration of His Excellency, Governor Dauda Lawal, our state continues to prioritize welfare programmes that uplift our people and reduce hardship. I am personally proud of the consistent and meaningful efforts of the Zakat Board in fulfilling this responsibility. She said.

According to her, For the 4th Quarter of 2025, the Zakat Board has successfully delivered a series of life-changing interventions, which include:

"Support for the marriage of 200 female orphans, through essential household items such as furniture, bedding, and a ₦200,000 dowry, to enable them begin their marital lives with respect and comfort".

During the wedding, the chairman Zamfara state council of chiefs,Emir of Anka Alhaji Attahiru Mohamed Ahmad represented brides parents while chairman Zakkat board was the representative of grooms parents in the state.

Earlier on,the Executive Secretary Zamfara state Zakkat and Endowment Board Alhaji Habibu Balarabe express deep appreciation to the Administration of His Excellency, Governor Dauda Lawal, for the continued support given to the Zakat Board in the state.

Meanwhile,the First lady has also Settled debt-related cases with  about N70million to 436 persons across Shari’ah Courts and Correctional Centres, granting deserving individuals a second chance to regain freedom and rebuild their lives honorably.

"To the newly married couples, I offer heartfelt congratulations. May Allah bless your marriages with love, unity, and peace.To those who benefited from debt settlement, may this intervention be the beginning of wise financial decisions and new opportunity". She prayed.

World Human rights Day : We records Over 120 abuse, neglect Cases - Zamfara NHRC

From Ahmed Attahir  The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Zamfara state has raised the alarm that over 120 violations of human rights were recorded in 2024 in the state.
