Bandits Attack : Kebbi Police beef-up security,urges public to report suspicious movement.

From Ayodele Ajoge, Birnin-Kebbi  The Kebbi State Police Command has beefed up security presence in Bui District of Arewa Local Government, following the brutal killing of 33 people in four villages on Wednesday in the state. The State Police Command in collaboration with the Military and other security agencies, additional personnel and operational assets have been deployed, and sustained area domination patrols to maintain stability. In a press statement made available to newsmen by Police Spokesman Bashir Usman said the Command deeply regrets the loss of thirty-three innocent lives and extends its heartfelt condolences to the families affected and the entire Arewa community. Kebbi Boat mishap claims 14 lives in Yauri

From : Ayodele Ajoge, Birnin-Kebbi  No fewer than 14 persons, mostly women, lost their lives following a boat mishap in Yauri Local Government Area of Kebbi State. The accident occurred in Gumbi community in Gumbi Ward, when a boat conveying over 100 passengers capsized while returning from a wedding ceremony. An eyewitness account said the passengers were returning from Gwarzo village in Ngaski Local Government Area, where they had accompanied a bride to her husband’s residence, when the incident happened. "A breakdown of the casualties showed that 13 women and one child died in the mishap, while others were rescued. All the deceased were buried the same day in accordance with Islamic rites," the source said. Victims of banditry: Kebbi govt. constitutes committee for immediate relief assistance.

From : Ayodele Ajoge, Birnin-Kebbi  The Kebbi State Government has constituted a committee to coordinate relief assistance to victims displaced by insecurity in Yauri, Shanga, Ngaski and Koko Besse Local Government Areas of the state. This was made known in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Yakubu Bala Tafida, and made available to journalists in Birnin Kebbi. According to the statement, the move is part of the state government’s deliberate efforts to address the humanitarian challenges arising from recent security threats in the affected communities. The committee has been directed to immediately commence operations and begin the provision of relief materials to displaced persons, with members expected to relocate to the affected local government areas and start work not later than (today) Monday.
