Electricity supply: Kebbi state Govt., KEDCO signs MoU.

The Kebbi State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) in far away United Kingdom aimed at improving electricity supply across the State.
In a press statement made available to newsmen in Birnin-Kebbi on Thursday by Alhaji Yahaya Serki, the SA media to the Governor explained that this significant development was disclosed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Yakubu Bala Tafida, who is part of the Kebbi State Government delegation attending the crucial Kaduna Electric Energy Summit taking place in London, United Kingdom.
According to the SSG, the agreement form part of the deliberate efforts of the Governor Nasiru Idris -led administration to achieve the much-desired improvement in electricity supply to the people of Kebbi State.
The initiative is expected to boost socio-economic activities, attract investment, and enhance the living standard of the people of Kebbi State.
Governor Nasir Idris, who is participating in the high-level summit alongside other notable leaders, including the Governors of Zamfara and Kaduna States, Dr. Dauda Lauwal and Senator Uba Sani joined key discussions centered on the theme: “Driving Energy Investment and Regional Development.”
The summit brought together top government officials, energy experts, and relevant stakeholders to explore strategic investment opportunities within the Kaduna Electric franchise area and chart a new course for improved power distribution in the region.
The Kebbi State Government views the signing of the MoU as a major milestone in its commitment to strengthening infrastructure and creating an enabling environment for development.
The partnership with KEDCO is expected to open a new chapter in the state’s electricity sector, in line with the provisions of the 2023 Electricity Act, which seeks to enhance private sector participation and expand access to electricity.
The administration of Governor Nasir Idris remains resolute in its determination to deliver people-oriented policies and projects that will positively impact the lives of citizens, and this new electricity partnership is yet another bold step toward fulfilling that commitment.
