Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa who recently dumped ADC in Zamfara State, has now called on all supporters to join NDC his new wagoon, urged them to register with NDC
In a statement issued by chairman Marafa support Group Alhaji Surajo Garba Maikatako said Senator Kabir Garba Marafa has ordered all his supporters and “well-meaning people of Zamfara State” to immediately dump the African Democratic Congress and register with the National Democratic Congress.
He warned that the new Electoral Act would be weaponized by government to stop ADC from contesting the 2027 elections.
"The directive was contained in a public message delivered Tuesday by Alhaji Surajo Garba Mai Katako, Chairman of the Senator Kabir Garba Marafa Supporters Group, who said he was instructed to convey it with all seriousness and urgency.
“Senator Kabir Garba Marafa says to all his supporters and all well-meaning people of Zamfara State: go quickly and register with the NDC. Rush and do it without any delay.
The registration is mandatory under the new electoral law to attend meetings, to vote in our primaries, and to stand firmly with us as a full member.
"The move was not out of malice toward ADC. “The ADC has done nothing to us, Let me repeat that the ADC has done absolutely nothing wrong to us. We wish them well, We respect them, We pray for their success.”
"The multitude of problems that the ADC party is facing today have been made to worsen and more complicated by the provisions of the new electoral law that INEC is now using.”
According to him, the government of the day will use all their efforts, all their power, all their legal tricks under this new law to stop ADC from participating in the election.
Marafa, a former senator for Zamfara Central and 2023 APC governorship aspirant, has not publicly addressed the statement himself. The ADC and NDC state chapters were yet to react as of press time.
INEC has not commented on claims that the new electoral law would be used to disqualify specific parties.
