APC aspirant Dr. Shinkafi drags INEC, APC to Court over north Senatorial primaries.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Zamfara north senatorial aspirant, Dr. Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi,has explained why he filed a suit at the Federal High Court in Gusau challenging North Senatorial District primary election held on May 19, 2026 in the state. 

He lamented that, there was no APC primaries election in zamfara north district.

In the suit, the APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as defendants and seeks to nullify the declaration of Senator Sahabi Ya’u Kaura as the party’s candidate for the 2027 election.

Speaking with newsmen shortly after filing the case,today at the Federal High Court Gusau, counsel to the plaintiff, Barr. Bello Galadi, said the primary election was marred by irregularities and did not comply with the Electoral Act.

“We have just filed a case against the APC and INEC over the injustice that has been meted out to my client.

"We expect the court to administer justice, rectify the problems, and do what is fair.”

"Our major concern is that there was no primary. We are very much sure. Under Section 84, for a consensus to be valid, two conditions must be met: there must be a written agreement, and it must be endorsed by all aspirants". 

The plaintiff was asking the court to declare the primary election null and void and to order the APC to conduct a fresh primary for the Zamfara North Senatorial District.

Court orders Police to investigate criminal case filed by Ex-lawmer in Zamfara

From Ahmed Attahir  A Magistrate Court I sitting in Gusau Zamfara State capital has on Wednesday ordered Commissioner of Police to investigate alleged criminal case filed before the court by a former member House of Assembly, Yusuf Alhasan Kanoma, against Mustafa Jafaru kaura ,media aide to Zamfara Governor. The Presiding Judge Murtala Abdullahi refered the case to the Commissioner of Police for thorough investigation.
